Gearing up for the Holidays
First, I have to say that the camera I bought in Japan almost 6 years ago is biting the dust. I noticed that the pictures I have taking lately have all come out terrible. This is probably the last time I will use this camera which is good because I treated myself to an iphone which should come this week. YAY, iphone!
I read other blogs and find them invigorating and inspiring. I have seen all the mug rugs and thought I should get in on it! I think they will make great gifts and of course, I had to make one for me. For those of you who know me and for those of you who don't: the blueberry fabric is starting to become my signature fabric. I try to use some of it in all my quilts, if possible.
So here are the beginning of my mug rug phase, side one and side two. I am flying out of here and will be hand quilting them on the plane. They better not take my needles.

Lately...
I have had some hip and leg issues which has made me sit more and of course, I was watching TV/movies on Netflix. I am the type of person who feels guilty sitting around when there is so much work to do. So while I was healing, I would sit in front of the Tv with hand work. I learned to knit when I was a child, so I would knit and watch. These mittens need to be felted and an inside cuff made. Notice the size difference and my deformed thumb. They felted the same size but the one thumb is still HUGE. Guess this was my prototype.
I needed something else besides knitting so I began hand quilting. This is going to be my 1st donation baby quilt for my guild.
I am loving hand quilting even though my stitches aren't consistent.

If it is a Lemon, make Lemonade 10/16/11
Remember this quilt???
It sat on my design wall for a while. There was just something about it that I didn't like. I know I do not like pink but I also want to use up my stash. So it sat and sat and I would move things around. Then it would sit and I would look at it.
Well, finally as I was having dinner one night, I decided to make it into these. So here is my quilt with a different twist.
Then we went out for a rest on the deck.

Design Wall Monday 10/10/11
I am way out of my color range here but am putting together a baby quilt. I am just not a pink person but I do love Aneela Hoey collections and when I was in Raleigh on business a few weeks back, I allowed myself to buy a 1/2 yard of it for this quilt. I love love the Sherbert Pips and Little Apples. Definitely going to get more! It appeals to my Child Development/Montessori background. You can't take the child out of me!
Which one do you like?
And here are my buddies! After a long hunt they brought back a Twinkie!! I didn't let them eat it!

Happy Halloween
While I am not a big fan of Halloween, I do love Halloween fabric. I am sending this to my future daughter in law in Japan, who absolutely loves Halloween. Enjoy!
