Fun in the snow

Snow Jan 30, 2010 and one finished project

Somehow, I feel like I never left NY when you see the snow amounts i am getting here in the South. I moved to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains 4 years ago and its been snowing since! Here are some pics of this snow and I finally finished one of my unfinished projects. It needs tweeking but its done!

Melanie's First Quilt

Here are a few pictures of Melanie's quilt top. One thing that is so different from me, is that she found this in a magazine and created it. She also finished it in record time! I need classes to do my quilts. The classes last for 10 weeks. So here are a few pictures. Great job, honey!

New Year

Ellen- I am enjoying your posts. Other babes, let's get with it and get our blog going again. I need to take more pics to keep up with Ellen. My New Year resolutions:

• exercise 5 days a week
• do a 5K and better my time
• better balance work, family and friends
• finish my two prayer shawls I have going for friends
• move forward doing more things with less fear

2009 was certainly a year of changes and ups and downs for the Babes. I think our strength has shown, despite all of us at points in time have not felt very strong. We are strong women!

New Dog Bed for Chuck

I decided not to start any new projects before completing some of my UFO's (unfinished objects) but I had previously made Chuck a new dog bed for the sewing room and Little Dog liked it so I had to make Chuck a new one. Here it is!

Oh yes, I bought this fabric at Ashe Walmart (with a slight mishap in the parking lot) for $.61 per yard. Needless to say, I bought 5 yards even though I only needed less then 2. The total cost of the fabric: $3.05.

January: The Month to Conquer Unfinished Projects

Here is what I plan to do for the month of January and probably into February. I will quit this when my first quilting class with Betty begins. I will finish as many unfinished projects from the list below and document it as I do it. I am not holding myself to any order, so I can forgive what I dont complete.

January 2, 2010 The Day after the New Year Begins

So I decided not to make any New Year's Resolutions this year because I can never keep them. Instead, I decided to write 10 Good Things that happened in 2009.

1. I made friends in my new town / county.

2. I am recognized in the community as a professional: asked to be on Boards, committees, consulting.

3. I met someone strong enough to be my man.

4. I am on the very slow road to financial recovery, but very slow progress is still progress.

5. I nurtured my creative side even though I am not a perfectionist.

6. I recovered from some reoccurring health issues finally.

7. I have helped some very dear friends at a time they needed it.

8. I have cleared some of the clutter out of my house and life.

9. I am respected professionally with my peers, colleagues and higher ups.

10. I changed hats in the mothering arena.

With all this said, there is still so much I would like to work on and become even better at.

That is my list!

Finally mailed Eric and Monica their gift!

So I take a quilt class at the community college in continuing ed and last year made Melanie her quilt (my first finished product) so this past fall, I decided to make one to send to Japan.

I actually finished this quilt before Thanksgiving and yet I still managed to mail it after Christmas. Sorry, son.....you do come by this trait honestly. Here it is!!!
